“Well am talking about all this Internet stuff, all this crap that I can't take a shit without someone's opinion...... You know what I mean is I don't think it's making any one's life better”.
Pierce Brosnan stars as Mike Regan, a successful aviation tycoon. Regan wants to take his company public and awaits the approval of SEC to launch his business venture: an app that will allow people to book private jets online.
During a visual presentation, Regan encounters some computer glitches which the new temporary IT guy, Ed Porter (James Frecheville) quickly resolves. This impresses Regan and he invites Porter to his ultra modern, high-tech home to fix some computerised aspects of his home. Regan also introduces Porter to his wife Rose (Anna Friel) and his daughter Kaitlyn (Stephanie Scott).
Porter mistakes a working relationship for friendship and it backfires. Upon rejection, Porter begins to make life for Mike and his family a living hell. Its game on when Regan decides to fight back.
Okay, so am a great fan of thrillers, love them, but this movie I can tell you was "thrilless". It’s too, too predictable. You could tell how this movie would end just after the first few scenes. It was kind of lifeless, no real spark. It did perk up a bit, when Regan hired an IT specialist, Henrik, played by Michael Nyqvist, to help him get his life back. It also didn’t delve into the issues of IT that we face in this day and age.
There was nothing creepy or scary about the character Ed Porter, he just seemed to me like an over-grown baby sulking cos the other kids didn’t invite him to play.
I just don’t see myself watching this movie again. But lesson to all, let’s try to be a bit more careful how we let the internet dictate our lives. One love.
