In this teen
flick, Bella Thorne stars as Katie Price, a 17 year old with a rare genetic
disorder known as Xeroderma Pigmentosum which impairs the body's ability to
repair ultraviolet damage: she's a "vampire" (minus the blood sucking).
Due to the disease, Katie has to stay indoors and her sole companions were her
father, her friend Morgan and her guitar. From her
sun-proof bedroom window, Katie watches Charlie Reed (Patrick
Schwarzenegger) pass by everyday and develops a crush for him. As fate would have it, they both meet, fall in love and ..........am
sure you have guessed right now what the conclusion would be.
Midnight
Sun is bland, it's
like watching another version of movies like A Walk to Remember and Everything,
Everything. We have the young love, the usual emotional scenes bound to
make you cry (I might have had a bit of shine in my eyes once or twice) and as
usual the particular illness is portrayed wrongly just to get you to cry some
more. Not surprisingly, Shane West was the second assistant director (he starred
as Landon Carter in A Walk to Remember) am sure he shared his wisdom on
how to make this movie more tearful.
Anyway, let's
just say Midnight Sun definitely did not make my dream of watching a work of art come true but for fans of melodrama, it's
journey might just appeal to you. Laterz
