A STAR IS BORN

A Star is Born was amazing and it blew me away. The chemistry between Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga was beautiful to behold. They made us fall in love with their characters and created sweet music along the way. Bradley Cooper plays Jackson Maine, a fading country musician with an alcohol addiction who follows in love with Ally (Lady Gaga) an aspiring songwriter and musician. Jackson takes Ally along on his tour, they serenade the crowds (and me) with beautiful music together and as Ally’s fame grows, Jackson slowly slides into depression.

I had a smile on my face within the first few scenes of the movie. I felt like I was with them throughout their journey; the connection, love, music, fame, sadness, pain and eventual death of Jackson. Not like I was moved by Jackson’s suicide and like his brother Bobby Maine (Sam Elliot) said, “it was nobody’s fault but Jack’s…… no one else”. He could have cleaned up himself and worked harder to have a better life if he had wanted to.

Anyways, the big deal is that this was Bradley Cooper’s first time on the director’s chair and he did a good job, although the movie is a remake and the fourth one at that: two Hollywood musical movies and one Bollywood romantic movie. Am not trying to belittle what he accomplished but all the predecessors did well because the pattern of the original story was adopted (this present remake not exempted). Don’t get me wrong there are ways of messing up an original but Cooper followed the pattern and reaped the rewards. I am definitely rooting for him in his next project.

Enjoy the love, music and chemistry of Jackson and Ally in A Star is Born which Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele can only dream of. Laterz
