AQUAMAN

A round of applause for DC Extended Universe on its continuous journey to success, first we had Wonder Woman (2017), Justice League (2017) and now Aquaman. DCEU should keep that ball rolling, no more dark setting and crappiness of the previous DCEU films.

The character Aquaman/Arthur Curry, played by Jason Mamoa, was briefly introduced in Batman v Super: Dawn of Justice (2016) and was part of the team of superheros in Justice League. Aquaman the movie is assumed to follow immediately after the events of Justice League; we are also treated with the back history of the underwater king.

Aquaman is reluctant to claim the throne of Atlantis but he teams up with two Atlanteans, Mera (Amber Heard) and Nuidis Vulko (Willem Dafoe) to find the one weapon that would help him defeat his half-brother Orm (Patrick Wilson) and protect his surface home (thats earth).

Aquaman is a fun and adventurous ride with part land and part under-water setting but just don’t go looking deeply into the plot because it has really shaky legs which won’t withstand a close scrutiny. The action scenes were alright, I had to rewind the first action scene with Nicole Kidman, really dope. Kidman plays the queen of Atlantis, Atlanna, and mother to Aquaman/Arthur Curry and Orm.
The effects were alright then there is the underwater setting: it was like Asgard immersed in water with the bridge and all; then there was the underwater creatures especially the ones used as horses; weird but just go with the flow.

What I didn’t like though was the costumes; they were awful like what’s up with a green and gold suit for Aquaman/Arthur Curry?

Then we have David Kane/Black Manta played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, he is Aquaman’s archenemy in the comics and should have been introduced in a subsequent Aquaman film as one of the main characters because truth be told, take him out and this film would still go on.

Anyways, take a dive into the world of Aquaman at your nearest cinema. Laterz.
