John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum

From watching one war in Avengers: Endgame to watching another in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, it’s been a very entertaining month. For those who don’t know the John Wick Franchise, the first installment, John Wick was released in 2014 and Keanu Reeves plays the titular character, a retired hit-man, whose wife has just passed away. While at home, Wick is attacked by masked men, who kill his dog and steal his car triggering Wick to dust off his hit-man gear to seek revenge on his attacker who turns out to be the son of the man who helped Wick gain retirement.

The second installment follows a few days after the first with Wick forced out of retirement and double-crossed by a member of the “high table” of the criminal underworld who Wick kills at the New York Continental, a retreat where no killing is permitted. Thus, Wick is “excommunicated”: denied access and protection in any Continental establishment, and a global bounty of $14 million dollars for anyone who kills him.

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum also follows immediately after the second installment and Wick knows he can’t run forever and so seeks redemption from the ‘high table’ but can he fulfill the terms?

One of the things I like about this franchise is that it keeps growing and gets better with each installment and this character was tailor made for Keanu based on his strengths as an actor which adds to likability of the franchise.

Halle Berry is also in this third installment and she plays Sophie, an assassin and friend of Wick. There is this scene with the two of them doing there killer thing and I was just blown away, these guys are in their fifties but they moved like they were much younger. In different interviews, Keanu said he did 90% of his stunts, while Halle said she broke three of her ribs, I wonder where they get their fountain of youth.

There was no shortage of weapons from knives, axes, guns, belt, the back-end of a horse, motorcycles, dogs; everything you can think of is a weapon. And my favorite part is the stunts and long fight sequences which the franchise is known for; it’s like watching a fatal dance, although the killing did make me cringe. Anyways, the end of the movie, Wick is “pissed” at the high table so definitely there will be a fourth installment. Yippee

So check out John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, where there is no shortage of fights, killings, gun play, ninjas, blood makers and what-not. Laterz
